How to Register
- Locate the Berwyn Police Department – Police Officer job listing and click Sign Up.
- Click Next.
- Review the Add-On Testing Policy and click “I Understand.”
- After reading the requirements, check “I Agree” and click Next.
- Click Schedule Test.
- Select your preferred testing option: Online (In-Home) or In-Person.
💻 Online (In-Home) Testing
Candidates may complete the test remotely using a mobile phone, tablet, or computer with an internet connection.
To schedule an online test:
- Click Schedule Test
- Click Accept
- Select Online In-Home Testing from the left-side column
- Click “I Understand” and proceed with registration
🏢 In-Person Written Test Option
To register for the in-person test:
- Select the event on the calendar
- Click Next
- Complete your registration
Candidates are encouraged to register early to secure their preferred testing option.

Completed applications must be submitted with all supporting documentation:
- current resume
- photocopy of applicant’s current State of Illinois issued valid driver’s license
- photocopy of valid Illinois Firearms Owners Identification Card
- photocopy of Social Security Card
- photocopy of birth certificate
- photocopy of a certificate of high school diploma or GED, college transcripts and/or diploma
- photocopy of ILETSB certificate
- photocopy of current police certifications (if applicable)

Telecommunicator

Testing and Application Process
Candidates must complete the Public Safety Telecommunicator exam through the National Testing Network (NTN). The proctored exam costs $46 and may be taken at an NTN testing facility or remotely using a personal computer. Candidates choosing remote testing should verify that their computer meets all NTN virtual testing requirements before beginning the exam.
After testing, candidates must submit a completed City of Berwyn employment application within two weeks of their test date. Applications may be:
- Delivered to the front desk of the Berwyn Police Department, 6401 W. 31st Street, Berwyn, IL 60402; or
- Emailed to WSedore@ci.berwyn.il.us.
Candidates who do not submit an application within two weeks of testing will not be considered for the eligibility list.
The hiring process includes testing, application review, an interview, a background investigation, and drug screening.
